The Chained Dragon, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Magicadia (magicadia.com). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you visit our website and use our services, including the Magicadia Reader.

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, a password (stored in hashed form), and a display name ("Magicadia Name"). Your Magicadia Name is a user-chosen identifier — you may use your real name, a gamer name, or any alias you prefer. We do not require your real name or physical address.

Patreon Data: If you link your Patreon account, we receive your Patreon membership tier and status through the Patreon API. We store your Patreon user ID and current tier to determine content access. We do not store your Patreon payment details.

Reading Activity: For logged-in users, we track which chapter you last read in each book to provide a "continue reading" experience. We also store your display preferences (font size, light/dark mode).

Anonymous Usage Data: For visitors who are not logged in, we collect aggregate, non-identifiable chapter view counts. We do not use cookies or tracking technologies for non-logged-in visitors.

Reactions: If you are logged in, we store your reaction (like, love, laugh, cry) on individual chapters.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • To manage your account and authenticate your identity
  • To verify your Patreon membership tier and grant appropriate content access
  • To remember your reading progress and display preferences
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
  • To understand aggregate reading trends (e.g., which chapters are most popular)

3. Cookies and Session Data

Logged-in Users: We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. If you select "Trust this Device," the session lasts up to 30 days. This cookie is strictly necessary for authentication and cannot be opted out of while using an account.

Non-Logged-in Visitors: We do not set cookies or use any client-side tracking technologies. No personal data is collected from anonymous visitors.

4. Third-Party Services

Patreon: If you choose to link your Patreon account, your interaction with Patreon is governed by Patreon's Privacy Policy. We only receive the membership data necessary to determine your content access tier.

We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or social media tracking pixels.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process
  • Protection: To protect the rights, safety, or property of The Chained Dragon, LLC, our users, or the public
  • Business Transfer: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you would be notified

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymous aggregate data (chapter view counts) is retained indefinitely as it contains no personal information.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Passwords are stored using secure one-way hashing
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available for additional account security
  • Database access is restricted to authorized systems

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data

10. Children's Privacy

Magicadia is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
